Transport for London (TfL) Engineers are always looking forward. Join us in one of our Central Engineering, Transport System Engineering or Infrastructure Engineering teams and, you’ll be undertaking inspections on a variety of unique and diverse locations across TfL. Day-to-day, your focus will be on advising and assisting landlords (responsible person) on their duties with respect to fire legislation. You’ll make sure assets are safe, working and compliant; develop your own solutions; and be a trusted source of fire safety advice for everyone, including our Heads of Engineering Delivery.

As the Assistant Engineer Fire Risk Assessor, you will have sufficient training and experience to undertake simple premises fire risk assessments in line with the Fire Risk Assessment Competency Council competency criteria.

You will have completed a industry recognised fire risk assessment course and have documentary evidence of a suitable background knowledge and experience in fire risk assessment.

To be successful in this role you have a good understanding of fire safety legislation, guidance, standards which are applicable to the TfL Estate (including the RR(FS)O, Sub Surface Regulations, BS 9999 and PAS 79). You will need to be a clear communicator, both verbally, with a range of staff and in report writing. You will be part of a team of fire risk assessors, however you may also work alone at any TfL location and this may also be outside of normal office hours.
