Day-to-day, you will provide technical support to projects, maintenance and operations, for design and installation of low voltage AC and 630V / 750V DC traction power plant and distribution systems including associated protection and earthing and bonding arrangements. You will also provide support for TfLs programme of specialist power quality and load measurements and related data analysis and advice.
You will have a good understanding of the fundamentals of electrical power engineering and its practical application to projects and operational railways You will be involved with power system upgrade projects at all stages of the lifecycle from inception to final commissioning. Your role will involve the preparation of feasibility / conceptual designs for power upgrade projects bringing together input from other disciplines. You will help with review of detailed power engineering designs prepared by our supplier organisations to ensure they effectively meet our requirements and also provide engineering oversight during the installation and commissioning phase. You will become a subject matter expert in this field able to use your experience and expertise to provide advice and guidance to less experienced members of the team.
