We have a unique opportunity for an Assistant Project Engineer to join our established Wates Construction team, supporting major projects throughout the North East valuing £30m and over. The purpose of this role will be to support the Project Engineer to ensure accuracy of works and components fit and quality control, as well as to communicate technical information to other members of the team.
Key Accountabilities for the role include:
Provide base lines, grid lines and datum levels for controlling the setting out of works
Interpret and understand Mechanical and Electrical drawings to co-ordinate builders’ work details
Carry out weekly checks on surveying equipment
Take concrete cube samples, mortar cube samples and slump tests and organise the testing and distribution of results to the relevant parties
Report defective work to the Senior Engineer and Site Manager, raising the necessary Defective Works Notice and supervise the remedial works
Raise RFIs to the Design Team to ensure information is available before work commences.
We are looking for you to be a recent graduate or someone who is career driven, as well as have some previous experience working within the construction industry. You will be CSCS certified and be flexible to travel to cover projects across the North East region.
To be successful in the role you will be an effective communicator, keen to learn and have a positive, can-do attitude.
