To lead and be actively involved in the bidding of projects ranging in value from £1m - £35m using a variety of procurement routes including traditional, single stage D&B, two stage D&B, negotiated and competitive dialogue.
To utilise bidding experience and bring construction knowledge to develop a bid strategy with the Preconstruction Manager and the wider bid team. Proactively manage and lead the bid team to deliver this strategy and produce a high quality, competitive tenders in line with clients programme and requirements.
The candidate will be required to compose and edit written responses as part of this role. They will also be expected to undertake all necessary preparation for mid and post tender interviews, including the production of tender presentations and where appropriate attend or head our interview team where appropriate.
Undertake the bid lead to ensure high quality tenders are produced that meet our high standards and the client deadlines and deliverables;
Take ownership and lead bids;
Act as the main point of contact for the client, design team, third parties during the bid;
Closely liaise with the Regional Preconstruction Manager regarding bid strategy;
Closely liaise with the Regional Preconstruction Manager regarding work winning resources and ongoing bid management initiatives;
Liaise with senior management and the bid teams to develop project specific bid strategies;
Proactively manage the project bid team to produce a high quality, competitive bid in line with clients timescales and deliverables and our bid strategy;
Lead the tender submission, including the planning, development and writing of the submissions in accordance to the tender deliverables to agreed deadlines;
Manage any design consultants during the tender period, in partnership with the Design Manager;
Work alongside the Estimator, Project Manager, Design Manager, Preconstruction Manager and/or the QS to agree the names of the supply chain and their proactive involvement during the tender process;
Work alongside the Design Manager or lead the agreement of design consultant selection, appointment and scope of services where applicable both during the tender period and afterwards;
Work alongside the Design Manager or lead the development and implementation of due diligence checks and innovative solutions that need to be undertaken during the tender period;
Work alongside the Planner and bid team to agree and develop the programme to be adopted on the tender;
Work alongside the Project Manager or lead the development of the logistical strategies and construction methodology
Work alongside Regional Commercial Manager to review Contract Conditions of the bid;
Personally produce project specific written tender responses and carry out editing duties on responses produced by the rest of the bid team to produce a high quality submission;
Lead the production of the relevant QA documentation and paperwork for the bidding process and for the tender settlements;
Manage any third parties associated with the development of the bid, e.g. 3D animation, BIM, Supply Chain;
Chair bid strategy and tender settlement meetings as appropriate;
Actively manage the bid team preparation for mid and post tender interviews including attending and leading our interview team where appropriate;
Produce and manage the Bid Programme for the duration of the tender;
Take ownership and lead the development of the bid risk register;
Provide leadership and energy throughout the bid;
To continue and improve upon the regional tender success rate
Working alongside the Preconstruction Manager and Business Development Team to attend client and consultant business to business meetings as part of their work winning duties;
Provide support to the submissions team in the production of PQQ responses where appropriate.
KNOWLEDGE SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
Construction based technical qualification to at least HNC;
Competent user of Microsoft packages e.g. Outlook, Excel, Word, Powerpoint;
Competent of using Adobe packages, e.g. InDesign (desirable);
Well developed Technical Construction knowledge;
Well developed Technical Design knowledge;
Comprehensive construction experience and knowledge;
Knowledge of design, detailing and design management processes;
Knowledge of current Building Regulations (desirable);
Well developed knowledge of different construction procurement routes;
Ability to communicate with a range of people at all levels, both verbally and in writing;
Adaptable and flexible;
Ability to plan, organise and project manage;
Analytical problem solver;
Client and customer focused in order to build productive relationships;
Ability to make reasoned and informed judgements and decisions;
Ability to work independently and also in a team environment;
