Job Description

To be responsible for all day to day aspects relating to the performance and maintenance of the catering service and equipment within the contract specification to the agreed performance, qualitative and financial targets
To provide a food service to the agreed standards in accordance with the Service Level Agreements and Key Performance Indicators specified in the service contract and ensure the production of food created obeys all lawful and internal policies and regulations and is of high quality
To actively enforce relevant statutory, company and site H&S compliance together with high levels of food hygiene
To be responsible for scheduling of work within the specified details of the contract
To be responsible for providing a high standard of hospitality to the site and meeting customer expectations
Further Breakdown Into Role Responsibility:

To ensure that all the duties and tasks under your control are covered by the staff available
To ensure that the preparation, presentation and service are carried out to comply with company standards and policies
To provide high personal standards of performance, hygiene and appearance
To communicate well and demonstrate a pleasant and polite personality
To ensure that all products are well presented and served in a clean, hygienic environment
To provide an efficient, caring and friendly service to customers in all areas of the catering department and deal with customer requests promptly
To ensure that the counter presentation, back up and service is to the Company’s standards
To ensure wastage is kept to a minimum and recorded correctly
To ensure that all areas under your control are left clean and tidy at the end of each service following the close down procedure
To ensure at all times that Company and statutory regulations of hygiene and safety are adhered to by all members of staff under your control
To ensure that the staff under your supervision, perform their tasks correctly and report any matters which you cannot resolve to Management
To manage escalated issues appropriately in the absence of the soft services manager and report any issues or un-able to resolve cases to site manager
To attend to any reasonable requests by Management
To ensure that all relevant book keeping is completed to the company standards
To stock take as per the trading calendar and ensure all in complete and in place in plenty of time for admin to upload and close financial books
Additional Ad-hoc duties
To report any customer complaints or compliments and take action if possible
To report any incidents of accident, fire, theft, loss, damage, unfit food or other irregularities and take action if possible
To attend meetings and training courses as may be necessary from time to time
To ensure internal ROL training is complete and followed at all times
To ensure the correct pricing is being used in line with portion – portion control
To ensure allergen management is strictly obeyed to
To assist with ordering for the unit and to only order items needed for best efficiency
To manage the quality and hygiene of the food cycle from preparation through to delivery
To actively enforce relevant statutory, company and site H&S compliance together with the monitoring of related equipment
To motivate and lead catering employees to perform their roles to a high standard and in alignment to Sodexo policies and procedures
To ensure staff feel they are in a friendly and safe environment with knowledge and guidance should they need it
To actively seek and identify opportunities for business growth within the contract
Key Performance Indicators:

Delivery of a consistent high level of service, within the Company's standards, to the contract specification and agreed performance, qualitative and financial targets
Compliance to company and statutory regulations relating to safe systems of work, health & safety, hygiene, cleanliness, fire and COSHH
Client retention and satisfaction
Unit audit scores including UBHC
People Management and engagement
Training delivered to plan
Menu planning and ordering using recipe on Line achieving a gold level or above

Level 3 Food Hygiene
Proven experience in working in the food service, catering and/or hospitality industry
Industry acumen and knowledge of catering developments & innovations
 Good understanding of budget management
Experience in supervising a team
Excellent communication skills
Relevant qualification and experience using IT - Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook


Previous experience of Sodexo policies and Procedures
NVQ Level 2 or equivalent in catering 706/1, 706/2
RIPHH or equivalent
Experience working in a standards compliance environment

We require an experienced Chef to join our team of FSAs and Admin staff  to work at our site based in Glascoed, Usk.

We are offering a truly competitive package:


Rate of Pay: £9.50-£11.00PH (Depending on Experience)
Hours: 37 Hours per week
Days: Monday - Friday

Core Times of Work:
Mon-Thurs: 7am-3.30pm
Friday: 7am-12pm
