Employee Relations Delivery Manager – FTC 9 Months

The central objective of Costa Coffee’s Employee Relations team is to ensure fair and respectful treatment of employees, consistent with our core business values and objectives.

Reporting to the Head of Shared Services, the ER Delivery Manager is required to provide partnership support to the Operational HR teams to improve Employee Relations outcomes by delivering high quality, commercial Employee Relations advice which enables business goals, champions Costa’s values and supports our organisational goal to be an employer of choice.

 

Responsibilities will include:

Liaise with Heads of HR, HR Managers and Senior Operational Management to provide counsel and ER guidance that supports the Company in establishing and maintaining programmes and practices that promote employment practices that balance best practice and commercial need, in a common-sense way.
Lead and manage the ER Advisors, (who run the ER Helpdesk) conducting line manager tasks such as day to day management of team, monthly 121s and performance reviews, support with training and development of ER advisors and any recruitment needs as necessary.
Ensure HR Business Partners receive employee relations support and guidance.
Develop and deliver training to meet the needs of the audience i.e. delivery of ER workshops, conducting developmental sessions at Regional meetings to communicate changes to Policy, case law changes, legislation updates, process improvements to ensure improved awareness within all relevant areas of the business
Asses potential risks (financial, PR, etc) and working with HR and Operations to ensure that robust decisions are made.
Provide specialist advice and contribute to business projects that support strategic initiatives including re-structures, redundancies and TUPE
Provide consultative and responsive support for high profile ER issues on behalf of the organisation
Provide Helpdesk reporting to key stakeholders to support in delivery and upskill of effective ER within the business
 

The ideal candidate for this position has strong communication and interpersonal skills, enabling them to work successfully on a broad spectrum of employee relations issues and projects, able to frame communication in a way that executives will respond to, without having the authority to tell people what to do. 

Skills and experience will include;

Significant Employee Relations experience (18 months+) with understanding and application of UK Employment law and ER in a fast paced, commercial environment
Experience of providing advice to senior managers on Employment Relation issues
Experience attending tribunals where they may represent individuals
Significant experience in dealing with change management
Previous experience of managing a small team
Demonstrates a reasonable degree of judgement in what they take on and what they can delegate to others
Ability to multi-task and deliver to tight timescales
Proven understanding and application of UK Employment law and ER in a fast paced, commercial environment
CIPD accredited and a member of the CIPD
Experience in managing key ER related projects such as TUPE and Redundancy
 

The role will require a level of geographical flexibility in base location within the UK.
