The Family Office plays a crucial role in supporting the Wates family to meet and maintain their long term strategic goal of being world class owners of a thriving family owned enterprise.
The role of the Family Office Director will be to support the Wates Family Owners in the ownership and stewardship of the current operating business and help them in the development of their enterprise. They will organise the day to day delivery of services to the Family and co-ordinate the work of their Advisers, whilst ensuring the efficient day to day running of the Family Office.
Key accountabilities will include:
Provide the Governing Owners and Shareholders with all financial and relevant information as well as co-ordinate the investigation of strategic options to enable them to make informed decisions. Working with the Chairman of the Family Council to ensure that the decisions are executed in a timely and cost-effective manner.
Assist the Shareholders in managing Wates Group dividend policies and financial strategies.
Work closely with the Wates Group and establish a trusted relationship with CEO & CFO.
Co-ordinate the provision of third-party investment, tax and legal advice, as well as tax and accounting services to individual Owners as required, and to the Owner’s Group.
Along with the Family Advisers, provide advice, challenge and support to the Chairman of the Family Council, Governing Owners and Shareholders, in the formulation, agreement and implementation of the Wates Enterprise Strategy.
Manage the process of preparing budgets for the Family Office, monitor and report performance against these budgets.
Support the working of Wates Family Enterprise Trust and the family philanthropic initiatives as required.
Ensure Family ownership succession, and relationships with next generation are proactively managed and are best practice.
Support and advise Shareholders regarding their investments outside the Wates Group.
Keep abreast of best practice and new ideas by having an outward facing outlook.
We are looking for you to be financially qualified with a breadth of experience from working in similar roles or environments and having managed the delivery of complex projects to tight deadlines.
You will be credible and highly numerate; able to communicate complex financial information in an informative and clear manner, along with a broad commercial understanding.
To be successful in this role you will also be able to effectively communicate and influence across a senior and diverse audience along with the professionalism, competence and confidence to become a trusted adviser and sounding board to the Family.
