Wates Developments holds a large and growing portfolio of potential residential development land and the team focuses on securing valuable planning consents in sustainable locations, in both town and country throughout the Southern England.
Our business invests in new land opportunities seeking to secure planning consent for residential schemes as well as investing in residential schemes through long-established joint ventures with leading UK house builders.
We have an opportunity for a Financial Controller to take full responsibility for the ‘traditional’ finance and accounting function of Wates Developments, providing business and performance insight and challenge. In addition, the role is a steward for the business with an eye to promoting governance in Wates Developments and ensure business and financial control is in place both internally and with our HBJV business partners.
Key Accountabilities will also include:
Lead production of all WD financial reporting for monthly and quarterly Board and QPR meetings. Present financials and deliver key messages to WD Board, QPR and WD team.
Day to Day management of HBJV finance relationships to ensure Wates investment is performing to plan. Review and challenge of quarterly HBJV Board pack.
Proactively track BU performance against budgets and strategic objectives. Anticipate and address variances arising.
Drive timely and accurate reporting of monthly management information, budgets and forecasts, tax submissions and annual statutory accounts which are prepared by Finance team.
Provide financial insight and challenge for new site appraisals
We are looking for a qualified Accountant who has hands on Commercial experience within the Industry.
To be successful in this role you will be highly analytical and possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence and build effective relationships at all levels.
