What is the purpose of this role?
The Amey Apprentice scheme encompasses various training schemes under a common umbrella structure. By joining our Apprentice scheme, individuals will embark on a journey that provides them with excellent career development opportunities within this discipline.
What will this role involve?
Repairs to carriageway Small kerbing works
Drainage repairs Bridge maintenance / inspection
Sweeping and cleansing
Patching and reinstatements
Small sign repairs or renewals
Boundary Fencing repairs
Traffic Management: Working in a gang of three or more to install static closures and or mobile lane closures on high-speed roads 12a 12b Traffic Management certified advantageous
Vehicle Safety Fencing Working in a small gang to repair VSF, damage after RTA. Incident support unit (ISU): Attend incidents to make safe carriageway and or other damage Landscaping:
Highway & Verge maintenance Horticultural work Landscaping activities Electrical: Street lighting repairs or replacements Make safe after damage
What are we looking for?
Have 4 GCSEs at grade A-C (or equivalent) including Maths, Science and English A full UK Driving licence would be advantageous An awareness of health and safety risks involved Demonstrate a keen interest to work within the highway maintenance environment Committed to developing your technical skills, including advancing your qualification portfolio Demonstrate a strong work ethic and a desire to work in one of the specialist areas that operate within the Apprentice scheme Organisational skills and time management skills are critical to coordinate both the practical work and study elements of the programme Manual handling Environmental awareness Tool Box talk IOSH working safely Personal highways safety AC (PTS AC)
Due to the nature of this role and in accordance to guidelines all candidates for this role must be over 18 and hold a FULL UK Driving licence
