Here at Virgin Active, we are looking for a Regional Health & Safety Advisor to promote a positively understood safety culture and support the effective implementation of the Safety Management System throughout the clubs in their region.
Reporting into the Head of Safety, the responsibilities of the Regional Health & Safety Advisor include:
Building relationships with club staff, regional peers & support teams to promote a positive & understood culture of Health & Safety (H&S) management via assessment, training, club visits and regional meetings
Review the Safety Management System in accordance with the Safety Team strategy including policy, risk assessment, procedural controls and training interfacing with internal and external stakeholders such as Heads of Function, the Primary Authority and Insurers.
Identify risks to the business by conducting risk assessment, monitoring, audit & investigations and involve & communicate risk to the relevant people to ensure elimination or reduction and promote H&S compliance
Execute & reinforce the control of risk at an appropriate level where shortfalls are identified
Liaise & work with Safety Team Members and provide feedback where compliance cannot be achieved or improvements are required
Work with external parties such as Local Authority Enforcement Officers and Virgin Active or Landlord Insurers to ensure legal compliance and relevant insurance policy requirements are met
This role is field-based, travelling to clubs within your designated Region; these clubs are predominantly London & Essex based, but also include some as far as Leeds & Sheffield (travel is paid for). The ideal candidate will be based somewhere that is commutable to London or at furthest around the Northampton area.
This is a full time role working 40 hours per week, flexibility is required to suit the needs of the business including being on call at weekends and peak holiday periods on a rota basis.
What we can’t live without:
To be successful as a Regional Health & Safety Advisor you will have/be:
Health & Safety qualification (minimum NEBOSH certificate or working towards)
Experience of working in a safety role with operational experience to compliment this
Sound knowledge of current Health & Safety legislation, best practice & guidance with the ability to implement sensible safety controls that are operationally practical
Excellent organisational & time management skills with strong analytical, investigative & report writing abilities
Strong communication & influencing skills across all levels including being able to highlight concerns & ensure safety messages are understood effectively
The ability to influence, support, coach & provide advice with the strength of character to support this
