What is the purpose of this role?
Assisting the Engineering Team with the production of technically sound design solutions, including all associated reporting and administration.
What will this role involve?
To assistin administrative duties associated with materials testing and reporting.
To respond to all customer queries.
To prepare site packs using word processing, spreadsheets, databases and geographical information systems
To maintain management information and financial systems.
To use Laboratory Management System software to enter sample data, run test data and produce test certificates
Retrieval of statutory undertakers’ information.
Operation of financial systems including preparation and processing of purchase orders and invoices.
Assistance with collection and analysis of performance management and audit information.
Administration of health and safety procedures.
Assist with daily post, to include opening and recording of incoming post as well as assist with preparation of sample containers to be posted out to clients.
Maintain appropriate filing systems under a Quality Management System.
Being prepared to undertake further training as and when required.
To undertake material classification and testing of materials both within and outside the Laboratory in accordance with required standards, as directed by the Senior Technician or Testing Manager.
Occasional heavy lifting is required.
What are we looking for?
Knowledge and/or experience of technical administration
Appropriate degree of computer literacy including experience of Microsoft Office software packages
Experience of working under an accredited Quality Management System
Experience of technical reporting is desired but not essential, training will be provided.
Knowledge of Laboratory Management Systems is desired but not essential, training will be provided.
Knowledge and understanding of testing standards and material specifications is desired but not essential, training will be provided.
Experience of working in multi-disciplinary team
Good communication and interpersonal skills (verbal and written)
Ability to work under pressure and achieve daily / weekly / monthly targets

The ability to exercise sound judgement in non-routine situations
