Bristol Parks and Green Spaces service is looking for an Area Manager, to deliver well-managed and improving parks and open spaces, for all residents and visitors to enjoy. Providing formal parks, nature reserves, play areas and sports facilities; we provide a vital free resource to Bristol Citizens, important for the good health and wellbeing of every community.

As an Area Manager you will take full ownership for delivering the park services for a designated part of the City. You will lead a team of up to 50 dedicated staff and hold responsibility for; grounds maintenance, landowner consents, health and safety, operational depots, stakeholder management, and resources.

You will deliver a high quality service, and be the figurehead for the parks in your area for; all our external stakeholders, communities, Councillors, partners, and internal service and business teams.

You will be focussed on our parks users and be aiming to improve services to them at all times. You will be able to identify solutions to a wide range of problems quickly, and manage resources to ensure your team is efficient and effective.

You will be responsible for the parks and green space asset, providing the landlord function and accountability on behalf of the Council, and consent for service change and stakeholder engagement when appropriate; and for the effective management and development of grounds maintenance, waste management, and health & safety for the parks.
