We have an exciting opportunity as a Plant Fitter to join our team. You will ensure the depot’s electrical, mechanical plant and equipment as well as facilities are always available for use by the depots. These are required to support the provision of the required trains for service, achieved by carrying out preventative maintenance and casualty repairs employing a selection of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, woodworking, and hydraulic skills.
A strong Electrical and Mechanical background, excellent problem solving skills and personal initiative are all required for this position.
Checking and monitoring own work by ensuring they keeping up-to-date with all service bulletins, new procedures and that Quality systems are adhered to at all times.
Guiding other team members, to continuously improve the skill base of the Depot Maintenance Unit.
Perform Statutory and Preventative Maintenance on relevant Plant and Equipment
Install new static plant and equipment in accordance with design specifications and contribute to design of installations with colleagues
Repair, recondition and service all types of static or mobile plant and equipment within the depots, or outlying sites on a roster shift pattern and pass fit for purpose.
Surveillance of nominated plant items and equipment and provision of detailed records and reports of findings, in accordance with statutory requirements
Assisting in the development of maintenance programmes of all permanent and temporary buildings, offices and security.
Assist in fault finding on electrical and/or mechanical apparatus and the interpretation of technical documentation for the beneficial use in all depot projects.
Skills, Knowledge, Experience:
Proven track record of fault finding and problem solving
Ability to read and translate schematic and technical drawings an advantage for some specialised roles
Knowledge of Plant systems such as lifting equipment, train washes, shutter doors, 415v, 230v and 110v electrical equipment and installation, pneumatic equipment, and on board PLC diagnostic tools an advantage
Knowledge of plant maintenance and equipment within a depot environment.

Must have experience in plant and equipment maintenance and installation.
Experience in a time served apprenticeship environment:
Must hold formal qualifications (minimum of City & Guilds) in an electrical, electronic or mechanical discipline:
A proven track record of fault finding and problem solving
Must have the ability to read and translate schematic and technical drawings.
Current IET regulations for Electrical Engineers.
Mechanical Engineering Maintenance and Electrical engineering qualifications (current edition)
Testing & Inspection certification
Experience in a facilities environment
Current, valid UK full driving licence
