JOB TITLE: Scaffolding Trainer

REPORTS TO: Head of Learning
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Planning and delivering painting and decorating courses
INTERNAL CONTACTS: Head of Learning, Admin Manager, Case Manager, vocational trainers
EXTERNAL CONTACTS: as required
HOURS: minimum 37.5 (core hours 8.15am-4.15pm)
PRIME OBJECTIVES:
You will plan for and deliver scaffolding courses within a custodial setting in order prepare prisoners for employment upon release. You will set high expectations for the work environment and your learners in terms of security, health and safety and outcomes for learners.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND KEY TASKS INCLUDE (but are not limited to):
1. Provide training in scaffolding 2. Ensure and promote a safe working environment in line with Bounce Back and prison policies 3. Plan engaging and challenging sessions with course material that meets the need of individual learners 4. Provide feedback to trainees in order to help them progress and actively engage learners in their own evaluation and assessment 5. Maintain group profiles, individual learning plans and additional learning support records 6. Invigilate examinations and ensure that portfolios and written records are up to date to satisfy internal and external quality assurance criteria 7. Complete daily registers and enrolment forms 8. Maintain displays that promote a positive and safe environment and support learning 9. Attend training events and meetings as and when required 10. Contribute to team meetings and cover colleagues as and when required

EXPERIENCE AND KEY SKILLS:

1. Minimum 3 years’ experience as scaffolder
2. Excellent communication skills
3. Enthusiastic with a can do attitude and a real desire to add value
4. Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to ‘think on your feet’
5. Track record of setting high standards in terms of health and safety and security
6. Experience of leading and motivating others
QUALIFICATIONS:
Ideal but not essential if willing to work towards following qualifications within first year of employment:
Teaching qualification, level 3 or above (DTTLS, PGCE, Cert Ed)
Assessor’s qualification
Level 3 vocational qualification
