Senior Planner

Main Purpose of the role
Overall responsibility in the development, monitoring and reporting of all relevant programmes.

This role will involve
• Develop and manage all relevant programmes
• Provide advice, guidance and training to the Client and relevant internal teams
• Track progress, incorporate changes and forecast delivery dates and expenditure
• Manage planning meetings with the Client and other key stakeholders
• Prepare periodic reports, statistics, and answers to enquiries concerning the programmes
• Provide support the inspections/watchman team as and when required
• Ensure high standards of programming are carried out to meet client and contract requirements
• Develop and improve working practices and seek innovative solutions

Specific Responsibilities
• Manage a team engaged in Traffic and Contingency Planning functions
• Manage the development of the annual Winter Maintenance Plan and related and performance reporting Maintenance Services
• Manage the preparation of Traffic Regulation Orders and the maintenance of associated signs and markings
• Develop and deliver contingency plans including: Highways Civil Emergency and Business Continuity Plans
• Develop plans for the delivery of highway services associated with Special Events (parades etc)

• Strong project management skills
• Methodical in approach
• Good attention to detail
• Ability to manager various stakeholders internally and externally
• Ability to anticipate and deal with any challenges as they arise
• Advanced use of the Microsoft Office suite (in particular Excel) and preferably Microsoft Project, plus other tools/systems defined by the project or client
• Good all round project management knowledge
• Good communication skills (verbal/written) and be able to manage stakeholders at all levels
