London Underground (LU) is the world’s oldest metro systems and with customer demand at its highest level ever, one of the big challenges that we face is to replacing the ageing infrastructure whilst keeping four million people moving every single day. 


We have a number of vacancies for Track Operative positions working with the Hammersmith & City Track Team. Your role will be to carry out day to day maintenance activities on the track and associated assets. As a member of a track maintenance team you will work to the company’s safety, quality and efficiency targets. 


Key Accountabilities

Ensuring all basic track maintenance activities are undertaken in accordance with London Undergrounds’ policy and procedures.
Working as directed to ensure track assets are maintained to standard, fixed equipment, storage areas and accommodation are clean and tidy
Using, checking and inspecting all relevant permanent way hand tools.
Carrying out Protection Master Duties.
Carrying out routine vehicle safety checks if required to drive company vehicles
Operating relevant mechanical plant and equipment.
In order to carry out these tasks effectively, you will be required to demonstrate competency to the given standards.
In addition, you will be willing to undertake such track maintenance duties and tasks that Management deem necessary and are within the individual's capability.
You will be required to liaise and cooperate as directed with other groups, departments and contractors as necessary for the achievement of work, tasks and programmes. 

Skills, Knowledge & Experience: 


Good communication skills (Essential)
Literacy and numeracy skills (Essential) 

Possess a clean driving license, and be willing to drive company vehicles on an ad-hoc basis (Desirable) 

Experience of working in a team (Essential)
Previous experience of night work (Desirable)
Previous experience of manual work (Desirable)
Previous experience of track maintenance work (Desirable)

Additional Information: 

We have 6 vacancies. 4 based at Farringdon and 2 based at Edgware Road 

This is a Safety Critical Role - Occupational Health Clearance will be required, including drug & alcohol testing. 

You will be required to work in tube tunnel and open areas and in all types of weather conditions.
