What is the purpose of this role?
•Managing daily operations on Waterdale Household Waste Recycling Centre in Watford ensuring that the centre is managed in accordance with the Environmental Permit.
•You will be responsible for assisting customers with directions and information regarding where to place their allocated waste as well as maintaining a clean and safe working environment for both employees and customers.
•Maximise and promote recycling within Watford.
•Manage staff to ensure they sort and stack materials to meet tonnage targets.
•Complete paperwork accurately
•Report accidents and incidents following Amey processes
•Ensure Waste Operatives are working to Amey Safe Systems of Work.
What will this role involve?
•Working 40 hours per week including weekends.
•Ensure the site is managed in accordance with the Environmental Permit and our waste acceptance policies.
•Presenting a professional image to our customers
•Ensuring work clothes, equipment and site are in a clean and tidy condition and request replacements when required.
•Manage the stacking and sorting of materials to reach required tonnage for contract.
•Completing and allocating work within set time scales.
•Complete paperwork accurately including waste transfer notes, daily record sheets, tonnage/bin counts.
•Arranging collections of materials from the contracts off takers.
•Manage the team successfully to maximise recycling.
•Carrying out the work allocated to the required standards, including avoiding risks to the environment.
•Ensure that staff are working at all times in accordance with relevant risk assessments and safe working methods, taking into account site hazards on the day, and using the appropriate supplied safety clothing.
•Reporting of all incidents, close calls etc.
•Carry out instructions given by Supervisor.
•Report to Supervisor any problems with meeting work schedules in good time
•Report to the Supervisor any problems or customer complaints, accidents involving people, buildings or vehicles, and all near-miss incidents as soon as possible. Report to the Supervisor any unsafe acts or unsafe situations seen on site.
•Any other duties which could be reasonably expected of you in accordance with the grading of the job.
